Catching a Cabin Fever

By Marshall De Lonay

On April 9, Newman Catholic High School had a very special event occur in their gymnasium.  It was Cabin Fever, a fundraiser held every year for the school.  There were many different activities to enjoy, with fun that continued throughout the night.

While most of the people in attendance were the parents of the students and important benefactors, the students ran most of the events.  There was a putt-putt golf course, which was run by some of the players from the soccer team along with Mr. Switalski, the boys soccer coach.  Other students worked the silent auctions and sold tickets for the various raffles, which were going on throughout the night.

There was also musical diversions that entertained those in attendance while they ate the wonderful food from Texas Roadhouse.  The main headliner was the Lake George Music Club who did an array of classic hits from various artists including everything from Van Morrison to Maroon 5.  There also was a performance by Newman Catholic’s own Marshall De Lonay while the band was on a break between sets.

The party continued long into the night and everyone had a marvelous time.  Many are looking forward to next year’s Cabin Fever, and hopefully the attendance and the venue will continue to grow and improve for many years to come.
